Writer’s Quote Wednesday – J.M.Barrie

Here’s some motivation for you this Wednesday:

J.M.Barrie

This quote by Sir James Matthew Barrie is one of so many wonderful and clever quotes from Peter Pan, it was actually very hard for me to choose from. The story about The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up was not his only work, but it is definitely the most popular one and a book he’s widely remembered by.

Not only did he write brilliantly about the kids and for the kids (although, you can’t say it was just for the kids – we can all relate to so many things he spoke about), he also cared for them and made sure they would still have his support, when he would no longer be there. Sir Barrie passed all the rights to Peter Pan works to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, which means that this children’s hospital still gets his help even now, almost 80 years after his death.

“Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.”, – I think, these words, written by Sir Barrie can be rightly said about him.

This post is written for Silver Threading’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday event – check it out for more beautiful quotes submitted by other bloggers!

  1. Doubt plays a huge part in any dream. Better to put it aside, take the risk and see what happens. The worst is that you start over and try it another way. Thanks for sharing. Cheryl

  2. I always wondered why that part of our brain that contains “doubt” is listened to more than the part that contains wisdom? I sure try to combat the thoughts of doubt, because you are right. Once those seeds take hold it is hard to get rid of them. Doubt is like a weed, it chokes out the beautiful thoughts. Well done. Great quote!
